Symphony of the Americas’ Summerfest 2009

Symphony
of the Americas, Fort Lauderdale’s professional orchestra, announces
its Summerfest orchestra schedule presented by American Airlines. Each
summer, Symphony of the Americas (SOA), under the artistic direction of
Dr. James Brooks-Bruzzese, collaborates with a European chamber
orchestra, to present great concerts, master classes and educational
experiences on three continents, as part of the Michael & Madelyn Savarick Global Outreach initiative.
Summerfest 2009 begins in Budapest, Hungary, where SOA musicians join the Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra for
concerts and a CD recording in early June. The Summerfest orchestra
performs next in Panama, before settling in Fort Lauderdale for a
three-week residency from July 6 – 22. On July 23, Summerfest continues
with a performance residencies in Nicaragua and Guatemala. SOA is
pleased to act as Fort Lauderdale’s ambassador, promoting our area as a
cultural destination to audiences around the world. Summerfest
presented by American Airlines, is sponsored in part by Hyatt Regency
Pier 66 Luxury Hotels & Resorts, Sun-Sentinel, Wachovia, Royal Rent
A Car, Broward Cultural Council & Board of County Commissioners,
and Florida Division of Cultural Affairs.
Summerfest
South Florida performances will be held in several Fort Lauderdale
locations, with a gala concert and reception at the Broward Center for
the Performing Arts on July 17 at 8 pm. The orchestra will also perform
in Pembroke Pines, Deerfield Beach, Key West, Miramar, Weston, Pompano
Beach, Miami Beach, and Miami Lakes. For more details, consult the
